We are pleased to bring you some updates to the Village Chronicle website. In addition to some administrative and infrastructure improvement, here are some other features the new website offers:
- FREE classifieds for a limited time!
- Improved Menu Navigation and layout
- Google News elements
- Relevant image galleries and video included in select articles
I regret to say that the article comments we have accumulated in our 2009 articles were lost in the recent migration. We truly appreciate every comment received. As before, there is a comments system in place that will allow you to voice your opinion and engage in discussion about any of our news.
Going forward in 2010, we have many improvements on the table:
- Offering email newsletter subscriptions
- Social Network with Facebook and more
- Improved author management in articles
- Coupons & incentives section
- Advertising options
- Video stories for local business
As you all know, this website (like the paper) is entirely volunteer operated. We make use of powerful open-source software and the good will of our local technology experts to make this all possible! Behind the scenes, we have several volunteers posting fresh articles, monitoring activity, troubleshooting technology problems and developing new concepts – all in their so-called “free time”. J
How can you support the further development of this website? Provide us your ideas! Send us your articles and images! Use the discussion boards and comments! Share it with your friends and family! Be patient with us as we continually work to improve things and sometimes stumble along the way.
