I Want To Know

Does anyone know about the house located at 27w502 Galusha Rd? It sits on St. James Farm and was once owned by the McCormick’s. I think it is called The Galusha House.

We contacted the Warrenville Historical Museum and Art Gallery. The curator, Steven E. Bruun, reported the Historical Society has plans for ‘The Galusha House” as an in-situ display of life in the 19th century. He promised to do more research on this topic and share the results with us in the future. We can also share with you that the Forest Preserve owns St. James Farm and has set aside The Galusha House for Warrenville to use in an appropriate manner. It won’t be going away any time soon if ever.

Yes, we are in the process of drawing up a proposal for the future of this house. The Warrenville Historical Society has information on this house in Leon Schmidt's book entitled "In and Around Historic Warrenville." There was also an article written in the Historical Society newsletter dated March 2009, entitled "The Wanderer." Both can be vied (the book purchased, as well) at the Historical Society. As we progress we will update our members via the newsletter and the public via our newsppaer(s).
Thank you for your interest. I would be happy to discuss this project with you at any time.
