The Warrenville City Council met Jan. 23 as the Finance and Personnel Committee of the Whole, and leading off a long agenda was a consulting report on city services and staffing.

The study was conducted from late August through November, and the analysis, findings and recommendations were prepared in December. Voorhees and Associates performed the work.

Approximately 75 Warrenville residents attended the Warrenville Community Development and Planning Committee of the Whole meeting Jan. 9, 2012 at Warrenville City Hall.

District 94/WCHSTA Contract Talks Reach Impasse

On Jan. 11, the West Chicago High School Teachers’ Association filed a Notice of Impasse with the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board (IELRB).

At its Dec. 5 meeting, the West Chicago City Council approved a new local ordinance that addresses the legality of smokable herbal blends. It is now unlawful for anyone to sell, offer to sell or deliver, possess or use any synthetic marijuana product.

Welcome Home!

A caring community braved the cold to welcome Lance Corporal Weston J. Smith USMC (in DC shirt) back home to make sure the hero knew how much his service and sacrifice meant.

The ninth annual DuPage Environmental Summit will be held Wednesday, Jan. 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Krasa Center at Benedictine University in Lisle.

It is an exciting mix of presentations by industry experts, professional exhibits, and networking opportunities. The Summit is free of charge and open to the public. Advanced registration is requested.

Acting as the Public Safety and Legislative Committee of the Whole, a meeting of the Warrenville City Council, was held Dec. 12, with all members in attendance.

Mayor David Brummel asked for volunteers to apply for a vacancy appointment to the city’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission. The mayor also announced the funeral arrangements for Jim Guter, president of the Warrenville Arts Council, who passed away last Friday.

At its Nov. 28, meeting, the Warrenville City Council, acting as the Finance and Personnel Committee of the Whole, discussed a few issues that drew public input. Topping the agenda was the Canadian National (CN) sound mitigation program that is winding down. There are leftover funds that the council can disburse, but how?
