Children and adults of all ages will have truckloads of fun during Touch-A-Truck on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. at Reed-Keppler Park, 129 W. National St., West Chicago, Illinois.

Sunday and holiday concerts are back, plus four Saturday shows for kids

Cantigny Park is once again the leading west-suburban venue for free summer concerts!  Starting Memorial Day weekend, 17 bands representing a wide variety of musical genres will entertain guests on Sunday afternoons and on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.

Curves Honors Health Week

Curves will give away one million 30-day memberships during National Women’s Health Week, May 13-19.

200 member artist Kristine Plum enjoys melding the philosophy and technique of two very distinct master teachers into a style of watercolor which is all her own. The Des Plaines resident is the featured artist for the month of May at West Chicago’s Gallery 200, located at 200 Main St.

Cantigny Invites Visitors to “Join the Park!”

Cantigny Park, part of the Robert R. McCormick Foundations, is appealing to its loyal fan base and occasional visitors alike with a new membership program. It is the first program of its kind since the park opened in 1958.

Visitors to Cantigny are now receiving a “Join the Park!” brochure that outlines the three levels of membership and the benefits of each. The levels are Member, Member Plus and Senior.

Joining the 21st annual DuPage River Sweep, 9:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 19, is an easy and fun way to "Go Green" this Spring!

The Conservation Foundation and its partners are seeking volunteers to help "sweep" the East and West branches of the DuPage River and Salt Creek clean by picking up trash on shore or in the water. 

Firecracker 5K Run/Walk

Warrenville Park District’s annual Firecracker 5K Run/Walk will be held on Wednesday July 4 at 8:00 a.m., at the Park District building, 3s260 Warren Ave. The 50-yard dash for ages 3-7 and 100-yard dash for ages 8 and up will also be featured again this year. Be one of the firs 400 registrants and receive a free t-shirt and goody bag. Course is USATF certified race. A portion of the proceeds will benefit scholarships for children to participate in Warrenville Park District programs.

Approximately 80% of new mothers will experience baby blues or a more severe, longer-lasting form of anxiety and depression after pregnancy.  Prompt treatment can help a new mother manage symptoms and enjoy her baby.

People Made Visible (PMV), in collaboration with the West Chicago City Museum and the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission, is happy to announce its Spring International Visiting Artists.  Artists Heidi Hove and Jens Axel Beck will arrive from Denmark on Sunday, May 6, 2012 and remain in West Chicago through the end of May. They will be participating in social art projects in the community during their stay, including an art-related activity at Blooming Fest on Saturday, May 19, 2012 in downtown West Chicago from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
