Spring brings renewal and hope for the future. Here at the chamber, we are very optimistic about the path forward.

Patricia Haskins, our President and CEO has chosen to remain with the chamber at this time. We are thrilled she has agreed stay and provide the continuity and insight we value.

Spring also means an opportunity to rid ourselves of that heavy winter wardrobe and to get up and out and on with business. We have a great lunch planned for April 22 to help you do just that. Join your fellow chamber members to form the reciprocal relationships needed to grow your company. Country Inn & Suites will host the luncheon.

And mark your calendar for the Rolling Down the River Expo Business to Business Expo, coming up April 28. A joint effort of eight chambers, the Expo hosts over 200 exhibitors and over 1000 attendees. Call or email the chamber office today as there is still time to join the EXPO as an exhibitor or a sponsor. This is a fabulous opportunity to get your business message out there. A sponsorship in particular will help you sell your product and services to a new audience. With so many exhibitors and attendees, the Rolling Down the River Expo presents a reasonably priced and effective marketing opportunity.

Finally, another date to save is April 24 when the chamber will assist in the presentation of a Homeowners Expo for all residents, especially those in Summerlakes regarding the CN Sound Mitigation Program.

Roofers, landscapers, siding companies, financial institutions and more will be available for information and service. The event will be held in the gymnasium at 3s020 Continental Dr. Check out our website at www.warrenvillechamber.com for complete details.

  • The Real Objection to the Pipeline Written by Connie Schmidt

Although there is concern for underground water reservoirs in Nebraska, this is not the only objection that environmentalists have to the Keystone XL Pipe line proposed to carry oil from Canada to Texas.

  • VC is Hypocritical Written by Scott Shaw

I am responding to, and have a question for managing editor, George Safford. Why is it okay for Mr. Safford to insult the Chronicles readers, but it is not okay for us to have an opportunity to properly defend ourselves? Your editorial policy is a disgrace to free and open speech.

  • A Letter to the Editor—And to All Who Knew Joe Voegtle Written by Jeff Carstens

Joe Voegtle passed away this last week. The President wasn't notified. There won't be a plaque at an Ivy League university. The New York Times didn't carry a single word. But there is a little corner of the universe where, for a time, everything stopped – a little town that could pass for anywhere in the United States; the town where Joe plied his trade, raised a family, and touched the lives of those around him.

  • How Do We Stop the Horn Blowing? Written by Rich and Ellen Kurowski

Why not do something constructive with the excess railroad funds? How about hiring a lawyer, familiar with dealing with railroad problems, to get the trains to stop blowing their horns?
