Donna Hathaway’s Book Club is enjoying reading “Power vs. Force” by Dr. David R. Hawkins so much that they plan to continue their discussion Nov. 16, at 7:00 p.m. at the Warrenville Public Library. In essence, the book explores the difference between “knowing about” something and actually “knowing it.”
Dr. Hawkins has created a scale of human consciousness from one to 1000, upon which he calibrates the level of the truth of any statement. He claims that modern society lives at a consciousness level of 207, far beyond the Neanderthals, but far below the level of enlightenment that begins at 600 with the experience of non-duality and direct knowing.
Dr. Hawkins is a nationally renowned psychiatrist, physician, researcher and lecturer. He has been a guest of MacNeil-Lehrer, Barbara Walters and The Today Show. Hawkins had a spontaneous awakening experience that rendered him into a state of blissful consciousness beyond “normal" reality when he was a young man. He continues to explore its meaning and expand his research.
Reading the terse, straightforward and somewhat academic prose of this book is a challenge. Joining this group to share your reading experience will bring more light to your appreciation of Hawkins’ study of subjective states of spiritual awareness and the human experience of Divine Presence. Copies of Dr. Hawkins’ book are available at the Warrenville Library.
