Tigers on National TV Tonight ESPN to Televise Contest Between Two State Champs Wheaton Warrenville South and Maine South will become the first defending high school state football champions to face each on national television, when the two teams square off tonight at 4:00 p.m. in a non-conference game to be broadcast live by ESPN at Red Grange Field in Wheaton.
A River Without Water—Temporarily Right in our own backyard—we can see a rare feat of engineering—man harnessing the power and flow of a river. Take a walk down the prairie path east of Batavia Rd. At the bridge you see when you cross the river on Butterfield Rd there are huge diesel engines sucking the river into a pipe. The water is moved downstream in the pipe below a temporary wall structure and again released into the river. A huge section of river is without water; trucks and men scurry about digging in the river bottom.

  • "It's All Tigers 44-7" Tigers National TV Debut a Roaring Success Written by Dan Schuyler

What was billed as a battle of the titans turned out to be a total runaway Friday night, when Wheaton Warrenville South rolled over Maine South 44-7 in a non-conference matchup at Red Grange Field in Wheaton that saw last year's Illinois 8A state champion absolutely worked over by the 7A state champion in front of a national television audience on ESPN.

Does Not Abortion Restrict the Freedom of the Unborn

I offer some comments regarding the editorial on stridency in political debate relating to homosexuality, the Catholic Church, abortion and tolerance.

Fred Phelps gained notoriety for staging offensive demonstrations against homosexuals at funerals of service men. However, staging outrageous and offensive demonstrations did not originate with him. He followed the political homosexual’s playbook.

Homosexuals have invaded Catholic churches, taken communion and spit the hosts back at the priests and then thrown condoms around. Other homosexuals have produced plays depicting Jesus as a homosexual and his mother, Mary, as a lesbian. Offensive and outrageous behavior has served homosexuals very well politically.

[Village Chronicles] Editor George Safford complains that murdering abortionists restricts his own freedom. Apparently, restricting his freedom constitutes a major moral infraction of more than cosmic proportions. However, he does not explain why murdering innocent human beings in the womb and thereby restricting their freedom is acceptable.

While anti-abortionists have murdered abortionists like George Tiller, in their belief-system, the abortionists were guilty. That fact is not in dispute. But Safford had nothing to say about homosexuals who murdered innocent persons to advance a political agenda. Kimberly Bergalis, a young woman, died from AIDS because her dentist deliberately infected her with a deadly virus to force the federal government into funding AIDS research. Once again, we see that outrageous and harmful behavior works to the benefit of the homosexual agenda.

Homosexuals can both use outrageous stunts to advance their agenda and condemn them when opponents use them, because they are morally superior persons. Morally superior persons do not submit to any moral authority except their own. Morally inferior persons, such as Catholics, are inferior because they submit to the moral authority of the Pope.

In other words, nothing restricts the behavior of a politically active homosexual—nothing, not the Pope, not the Bible, not logic, not even historical fact.

On the one hand, such a person is unpredictable, a loose cannon. On the other, he is a predator in waiting, like Bergalis’ dentist. He cannot be trusted, and he is not fit for civil life.

I also read that story from the Associated Press (AP), reporting on a Catholic school which refused to admit a boy because his mother and her consort are lesbians. The story aroused sympathy for the lesbians and incited hatred against the Church.

What the article did not ask was this simple question: Why would a lesbian send her child to a Catholic school? Didn’t she know that the Catholic religion defines homosexuality as profoundly immoral? Why would she send her son to a school which tells him that his mother is living in sin?  And why would the AP make a story out of this?

The answer is that the event was another offensive and outrageous stunt to embarrass the Church and force it to change its doctrine to bring it into line with the beliefs of ‘tolerant’ homosexuals.

As a practicing Catholic I enjoyed your article. However, when I read about the homosexuals spitting the Holy Eucharist out I cringed. That is pure evil and if I saw one do that in my parish I would take them out.

  • Bright Future for Cenacle Property Written by Jim Kleinwachter

I have read the thoughts of some other readers on the appearance of the Cenacle property,  and I felt the need to add my views. The [DuPage County Forest Preserve District] is in the process of naturalizing the property. For hundreds of years the Cenacle property was an Oak Savannah. At some point [not too long ago], the landscape under the Oak trees became mowed grass.

  • The Mayor and Fawell Dam Written by Ronald J. Lisowski, Jr.

My family and I moved to Warrenville in late June of 2010. I have read the two articles regarding Fawell Dam (“Fawell Dam Concerns Unanswered,” by Crystal Lynn, 7/9/2010; and, “Village Chronicles Article is Incomplete and Inaccurate,” by David L. Brummel, Mayor, 7/23/2010). I also read the article by Mayor Brummel regarding his former big red truck.

  • Flood Problem: Unanswered Questions and Not Enough Help Written by Mary Joe Huber

At the somewhat confrontational city council meeting on Aug. 2 concerning the frequent flooding of the river in Warrenville, Mayor Brummel stated several times that citizens should get their questions in by that Friday and they would be answered at the meeting the following Monday.

  • When It Comes to the Cenacle Property, the Forest Preserve Is On the Right Track Written by Gary Davis

Over the past few months, I have seen a number of instances in this paper where individuals have not been happy with the forest preserve’s handling of the former Cenacle property. I'd like to voice my support of what it is doing.

  • Fawell Dam Impedes Warrenville Drainage Written by Michael Hoffmann

When I bought my property in 1985, it was not in a flood plain. It became flood plain in 2003. FEMA never notified me of this; I found out through a realtor. Having flood plain on my property has devastated its value.
