The Chicago Bulls/Chicago White Sox Training Academy announced that it will continue to run its Little Sluggers camps geared towards five and six year old ballplayers that are just discovering the magic of wearing a uniform, hat and glove.

The Little Sluggers camp is available at four Sox Academy facilities during the month of March throughout the Chicago area: Glen Ellyn, LaGrange, Lisle, and Tinley Park.

The White Sox Academy Little Sluggers program is designed to pass on America’s game to the youth of the community in a fun, organized, teaching environment. The most important thing the Academy staff can do is pass on a knowledge and passion for the game of baseball to the next generation.

The Chicago White Sox Training Academy Little Sluggers Camp is for boys and girls who are interested in learning the basic fundamentals of the game of baseball at a young age.

Little Sluggers allows players to work on catching, throwing and hitting as well as teach the young athletes of how practice leads to improvement.

The “sluggers” will also be introduced to techniques such as balance and athletic movement. Each 90-minute session will have 60 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of game play.

The Little Sluggers camps will start on Saturday, March 5, and will run for four weeks. Enrollment is limited and is open to boys and girls ages five to six years old. The cost of this beginning baseball fundamental camp is only $85.00 per young athlete.

The White Sox Academy will run its Little Sluggers program from 11:30a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at all four Academy facilities (Lisle, Glen Ellyn, LaGrange, Tinley Park). Please check www.BullsSoxAcademy.com to get an address and directions for the facility of your choice.

The Chicago Bulls/Sox Training Academy opened in 2001 in Lisle, Illinois and runs extensive, fun youth training programs for boys and girls ages five to eighteen in baseball, basketball, fastpitch softball and sports performance.

There are additional satellite academies in Glen Ellyn, LaGrange, Tinley Park and Schererville, IN. For more information or to register for a program, go to www.BullsSoxAcademy.com or call (630) 324-8221

In the very near future, the Food and Drug Administration may approve over-the-counter sale of rapid HIV-tests. This would be the first significant change in either policy or technology in the fight against HIV since the introduction of effective treatments more than 15 years ago.

Tuesday evening, March 20, after completing a long tiring day as a democratic election judge from 5:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Johnson School, I walked out to my car in the parking lot and sadly discovered two 1.5" x 3" business cards left on the right and left door windows of my vehicle with the Obama campaign logo and the printed words: "Hi, I saw your Obama sticker and I want to thank you for letting the village know who the idiot is."
