Gwendolyn Hudetz (nee Palmer), 89, a resident of Warrenville since 1948, was called home to our Lord on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Edward Hospital in Naperville.

She was born October 3, 1921 in Chicago, IL. Beloved wife of the late John F. Hudetz, whom she married August 12, 1944 and who preceded her in death December 13, 2000, loving mother of John A. (Elizabeth), the late Raymond, Joseph (Patricia), Frank (Carolyn), Leo (Janice), Mary (William) Marzano, Michael (Alexandra), Peter (Cindy) , Margaret (Michael) Webb, Paul (Carrie), Benjamin (Sonia) and Robert (Robin), proud grandmother of 38, cherished great-grandmother of 17, devoted daughter and only child of the late Raymond and Mildred Palmer, fond aunt of many.

A resident of Warrenville since 1948, Gwendolyn, with her husband John, expanded their life personally and professionally to the extent of having ten sons and two daughters and launching a commercial printing business in Chicago in 1961, known as John F. Hudetz & Sons, which became Solar Communications, Inc.

Gwendolyn was a former first lady of Warrenville when her husband, John served as mayor from 1977-1981. She was an active member of St. Irene Catholic Church in Warrenville, a 25-year covenant member of Wheaton Franciscans, a member of Franciscan prayer group of St. Helena of South Carolina and a member of Order of the Cross.

She was an original founding member of La Leche League International and a member of the Warrenville V.F.W. Post #8081 Women’s Auxiliary.

Gwendolyn was an avid golfer, Scrabble player, a patron of the arts and a lover of life.

Visitation was Sunday, June 5, followed June 6 by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Irene Catholic Church. Interment is at Warrenville Cemetery.
