In order to show school spirit and make the dessert special for the team, I decided there had to be a way to make orange and black crispy squares.
There is also a recipe for Black and Orange Jello out there. The moms that did the football dinners years ago used to make it. I am sure that someone will remember it, and hopefully they will send it to you. I am sure there are other special recipes from other “sport dinners” too. Good luck with your column. It is fun to read!
TIGER KRISPIE BARS
Ingredients
1/4 cup butter
One package marshmallows
Six cups of cocoa krispies
Preparation
Spray a large microwave-proof bowl with Pam.
Carefully melt the butter and marshmallows in the microwave.
Take the mixture out of the microwave and stir in five drops of yellow food coloring and one drop of red food coloring.
Mix thoroughly. This should turn the marshmallow mixture orange. Repeat the food-coloring proportions if a darker orange is desired.
Mix in the cocoa krispies.
Spray a 9” x 13” pan with Pam and pat the mixture into the pan.
Cool and cut in squares.
