The whole plant has been full and gorgeous through the entire summer and fall.
I planted this “monster,” in a large pot in partial sun. Then I proceeded to neglect it. Over the summer, I watered the plant maybe five times—it prefers to be ignored. While other ordinary annuals, like petunias, were failing in the heat, this plant just kept on going and growing. It only wilted once, on a particularly hot day three weeks after the last watering. It is downright amazing!
White Licorice plants also graced the small round city planters along the Prairie Path off Stafford, by city hall and the library. They were planted by the Girl Scouts and America in Bloom in Warrenville volunteers. These planters also looked terrific into late fall, even after frost nipped the other annuals in the containers.
White Licorice grows well with almost every plant imaginable. It makes an excellent container filler and spills over the sides nicely.
I give both thumbs up for White Licorice, a real plant “monster.” Put it on top of your container-plant list for next year.
