Seraph taught at The Warrenville Seminary, a coed finishing school. Many children from Chicago’s wealthy families boarded at the school. It was incorporated in March, 1845. As for when it officially opened, there are two different years listed. The web-based DuPage History/Warrenville profile page attributed to a Mary Curtis, says, “Fall of 1845.” The other date, 1851, is on the Village Profile by the Chamber of Commerce, and the 1851 date is also referenced on the Warrenville.il.us website, page 5, attributed to city historian, Leone Schmidt.
Note: I did see another press release about the school when we were celebrating our 175th year with a walking tour and it stated, “The Warrenville Seminary operated in the 1840s and 1850s.
