The Bovio Family Desperately Needs Our Help

We are writing to you today to ask for your support for one of our families in Warrenville in dire need of help from our community

Shortly before Christmas Art Bovio, who is 38 years old, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called neuroendocrine small-cell cancer. He is in stage four. This form of cancer is aggressive and has attached itself to his liver and pancreas.

Art began aggressive chemotherapy treatment after Christmas. Unfortunately, this treatment led to his kidneys shutting down. He was hospitalized with kidney failure and underwent dialysis at Central DuPage Hospital. He came home last week.

When Art was in the hospital, Heather stayed there at night and returned home in the morning to organize everything for their six children, Nicholas 19, Brittany 16, Taylor 13, Brooklyn 12, Brandon 10, and Joey 4.

Then she provided daycare out of their home for a number of our Warrenville families.

Art is in the construction business, and as we all well know, with the economy the way it is, work in that trade has been scarce. Times are especially hard for them now.

This family needs our help. We are asking for monetary donations or gift cards to local stores such as Target, Sam's Club, etc. If you are able to help, please send donations to Heather and Art Bovio at their home address, 28w680 Wagner Rd., Warrenville, IL 60555. Checks can be made to Heather Bovio. Donations can also be made in Heather Bovio’s name at NorthStar Credit Union at 3s555 Winfield Rd., Warrenville, IL 60555

We know that times are tough for most everyone right now, especially after the holidays. Even so, as we sit and realize how lucky we are to have this wonderful community for support, we are asking you to do what you can to help Art and Heather and their children.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,

Friends of the Bovios

  • HIV Self-Testing Symposiums to be Held in Wheaton May 3, 5 Written by Brad Ogilvie

In the very near future, the Food and Drug Administration may approve over-the-counter sale of rapid HIV-tests. This would be the first significant change in either policy or technology in the fight against HIV since the introduction of effective treatments more than 15 years ago.

  • Election Day Cowardice Written by Pam Gallagher

Tuesday evening, March 20, after completing a long tiring day as a democratic election judge from 5:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Johnson School, I walked out to my car in the parking lot and sadly discovered two 1.5" x 3" business cards left on the right and left door windows of my vehicle with the Obama campaign logo and the printed words: "Hi, I saw your Obama sticker and I want to thank you for letting the village know who the idiot is."

  • Wrongful Dirt Removal Written by Michael Hoffmann

The thorium cleanup along the West Branch of the DuPage River reached my property last fall. I was hesitant to let around a dozen beautiful trees be taken out, but I believed in the greater good of removing thorium from this area, including my property.
