Many of you know that I have been actively involved with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life for the past few years. I became involved because my best friend died from breast cancer at the age of 34, my mom died of ovarian cancer that hadn't been discovered by researchers back then (has been since), and my brother-in-law died from sarcoma at an early age.
But recently I met an incredible little girl, who, when only eight days old, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Despite all the odds, she has battled hard and is cancer free as of her scans last week.
So, this year, I will walk for those I have lost, but mostly, I will be walking for Paris who is a warrior and is with us today and will be for more tomorrows into the future.
I ask that all of you consider coming out to the Kick Off on Jan. 21 at 7:00 p.m. at the Courtyard here in Warrenville just to see how a few hours of your time can benefit so very many.
