I Want To Know…

A faithful reader bumped into us and posed this question:

 Will Butterfield Rd. be widened west of Route 59? I heard that the railroad would not pay for work that needs to be done to the bridge.

Our answer:

The widening project will extend from the Route 59 intersection west to where the roadway exits from under the east side of the underpass. This has always been the plan for this phase of the project.

When finished the two year project will extend the four-lane divided road design from Naperville and Butterfield Rds. to just shy of the railroad overpass bridge.

We are unaware of any future phases of this project but suspect a future project will take the road widening design from Warrenville west to Kirk Rd., and eventually to Route 25 in North Elgin.
