Traffic Safety Campaign Continues in West Chicago

The West Chicago Police Department announced that Campaign #3 of the Illinois Department of Transportation funded grant was successful in educating the motoring public on Seatbelt Safety and Awareness. The campaign ran from March 12 - 20, 2012 and resulted in 105 citations being issued, 20 of which were for Seat Belt and Child Safety seat violations and 1 DUI arrest.

DuPage County State's Attorney Announcement on Off-Duty Police Officer Shooting Incident

DuPage County State’s Attorney, Robert Berlin, announced that after a thorough investigation by the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office and the States Attorney’s Office he will not be pursuing criminal charges against the West Chicago Police Officer involved in an off-duty shooting incident which took place on February 18, 2012 after midnight.

Resident of the 29w500 block of Winchester reported an unwanted subject at residence. Subject left before police arrived. Subject also related concerns for family member meeting up with subject. Family member agreed to stay home.

Resident of the 3s200 block of Blackthorn reported having a dispute with neighbor regarding location complainant parked car. Complainant later found damage to vehicle and felt neighbor was responsible. Neighbor denied damaging vehicle.

Resident of the 3s200 block of Blackthorn reported disagreement with other parent of child regarding clothing taken on visitation and not returned.

Reported a child custody dispute while on the 3s200 block of Continental Dr.

Single Car Accident Diehl Road West of Winfield Road

On April 1, 2012, at 2:52 a.m. the Warrenville Police Department responded to a single vehicle traffic accident on Diehl Road west of Winfield Road. Upon arrival Officers observed the vehicle, which had left the roadway fully engulfed in flames. The preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle had struck an above ground gas line, rupturing that line.

Prostitution Sting Arrest at Area Massage Parlor

On March 16, Warrenville Police Department Detectives, assisted by detectives from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, culminated a one-month investigation with the arrest of Myong Sim Tarver, a 55-year-old female, whose last known address is 1812 N. Alvarado St., Los Angeles, CA.

6/2		Resident of the 29w500 block of Winchester needed information on eviction process to evict a roommate.
6/2		Resident of the 28w600 block of Ray St. reported unwanted subject at residence. Subject was issued a “No Trespass Order.”
6/3		Employee of business located on the 28300 block of Diehl Rd. reported customer was behaving in a inappropriate manner. Subject was intoxicated and asked to leave. Subject attempted to strike complainant. Subject did leave the business.

5/5		Resident of the 1s700 block of Essex Ln. reported known subjects were circulating and inappropriate photo of family member on social networking site.
5/7		Resident of the 3s600 block of Elizabeth reported unknown subject came to door looking for a vehicle, which had supposedly been purchased by complainant’s spouse, in another state. Spouse had not been to the state. Repo company left without any further information.
5/18		Resident of the 30w000 block of Cedar reported receiving unwanted text messages from known subject complainant has an OOP on. R/O learned OOP had not been served when text messages were sent.

Jamba Juice Armed Robbery Suspect Apprehended by Police

The third, and final, suspect in the November 30, 2010, Armed Robbery of Jamba Juice, located at 28341 Diehl Road, has been apprehended. Taylor Wilkinson was arrested on January 26, 2011, and is currently in police custody.

Tuesday evening, March 20, after completing a long tiring day as a democratic election judge from 5:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Johnson School, I walked out to my car in the parking lot and sadly discovered two 1.5" x 3" business cards left on the right and left door windows of my vehicle with the Obama campaign logo and the printed words: "Hi, I saw your Obama sticker and I want to thank you for letting the village know who the idiot is."

The thorium cleanup along the West Branch of the DuPage River reached my property last fall. I was hesitant to let around a dozen beautiful trees be taken out, but I believed in the greater good of removing thorium from this area, including my property.
