White Sox Academy Hosts “Little Sluggers” Camps For Five and Six-Year-Olds

Only Glenbard North Stands in the Way
Despite a disappointing defeat at the hands of Maine South in week two, we have only reached the halfway point in the football season, and already Wheaton Warrenville South is poised to chalk up yet another DuPage Valley Conference title. And after that, who knows?—the Tigers should go deep into the state playoffs, if not all the way to the top.
Last Friday (Sept. 25) WW South surprised and impressed the pundits by trouncing Naperville North 38-7, thereby avenging a 7-6 loss to the Huskies in the final game of the regular season last year, a loss that cost the Tigers the conference title.
But after trailing 7-0 at half time last Friday on Naperville North’s newly dedicated stadium, WW South scored 38 unanswered points in the second half, thanks in large part to junior quarterback Reilly O’Toole, who connected on TD passes to Matt Rogers and Greg McAndrew, and ran one in himself from 28 yards out.
With Wheaton North on the calendar in tonight’s game, and West Chicago as their homecoming victim next week, the Tigers will have a hard time not getting ahead of themselves and thinking about October 16 when they face unbeaten Glenbard North, whose defense has given up nary a point in its last four games, while the Panthers have chalked up 132 on their side of the ball.
A victory over the Panthers would give the Tigers the DVC title, and would be a huge springboard into what could end up as still another state championship.
