Chamber continues to move forward. Some of the larger businesses have asked for a complete package for their membership. In response, we have created a Diamond Membership.
The price of the membership entitles the Diamond Member to 12 E-Blasts, a Logo on our letterhead and website, eight golf-outing tickets, sponsorship for two events, two tickets for each of the 12 monthly luncheons, a pair of tickets for the Anniversary Dinner, greeter service and newspaper recognition.

The Warrenville Chamber of Commerce has had to make some tough decisions, but they are the correct ones. We are moving forward. As an organization, we continue to focus on helping the Warrenville business community remain strong.
Our 2010 Board Chairman, Andrew Carman (Edward Jones) put it this way. “We will focus on promoting the economic development of businesses in Warrenville for everyone’s benefit”
The chamber continues to be here to support Warrenville events for the residents and the community, but it will do this by working more with other organizations and not handling events alone. The board of directors and the president/CEO will focus more on finding ways to improve the business environment and on helping local businesses grow.
Expenses Slashed Across the Board
At the Nov. 9 Finance and Personnel Committee of the Whole regular meeting, Warrenville Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board Brian Caldwell announced that the chamber has undertaken significant cost-cutting measures.
Caldwell thanked the council for providing the chamber with $10,000 in bailout funds, and went on to explain how the organization plans to remain in business without requesting additional monies from the city.
On Sept. 21, the council had approved a financial contribution of $10,000 from hotel/motel tax funds to prevent the chamber from closing its doors in mid-October.
“This [$10,000] allowed the chamber to take some time to review our existing organization and see where cuts and changes could be made,” said Caldwell.

Council Expedites Family Foods Grand Opening
Written by Crystal Lynn
The city council has granted Family Foods owner Phil Salerno’s request to reword the city’s sign ordinance, allowing the grocery store to exhibit a large balloon at its October “re-grand” opening celebration.
At the Sept. 28 Community Development Committee meeting, the council unanimously approved Alderman Matthew Wiesbrock’s motion directing city staff and the city attorney to prepare a sign ordinance amending the length of special signage from 7 to 21 days and to have the ordinance ready for the Oct. 5 city council meeting.
Mr. Salerno, whose store is located at Route 59 and Batavia Rd., asked the city council at its Sept. 14 Finance Committee meeting to draft a text amendment to the sign ordinance, so he could put a large balloon in the store’s parking lot during the month of October.
The Warrenville Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the City of Warrenville for its $10,000 stopgap gift to our chamber. We are thankful that the city values the services we provide to it.
We appreciate all of our chamber members who showed their support at the Oct. 21 city council meeting. We now look forward to moving ahead with some new ideas to find the best way to help our members network with other businesses.
Thanks to an ordinance unanimously passed by the council on Monday, Two Brothers Brewing Co. Brew Pub will now stay open until 2:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday and until 1:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. The ordinance also allows Two Brothers to construct a roof and screen enclosure over and around its existing outdoor eating patio. Two Brothers Brewing Co. Brew Pub is located at 30w315 Calumet Ave.
I am certain that by now many of you have seen the local paper or have heard rumors on the street and wondered exactly what is going on with the chamber.
We, like many area businesses, are experiencing financial hardships due to the economy. Because many of our members are small businesses with five or less employees, they too are being hit by the economy, and, of course, that affects our bottom line. With less sponsorships, less attendance at our events, and some businesses closing, the chamber finds itself in a deficit position financially.
