Every person who lives in your household must be counted, whether they are a citizen or not. The purpose of the census is to obtain an accurate picture of our country.

The information that the Census Bureau collects is confidential by law, so be sure to count everyone living in your house, apartment or condo. Be sure to answer the ten questions completely or you may receive a telephone call from the Census Bureau to clarify your responses. If your form is not returned by April 1, a census taker will knock on your door to collect it.
Census takers take an oath not to share your answers with anyone. The Census Bureau will never contact you by e-mail. So beware of any e-mails or phone calls claiming to be the Census Bureau asking you for confidential financial information, your social security or credit card numbers. Anyone asking for personal information is not from the census bureau. Delete the e-mail without opening it or you will subject yourself to identity theft or fraud.
