Village Chronicles

These are community issues cur­rently under examination, subject to change or emerging. Village Chroni­cles will follow these issues and pro­vide updates from time to time.

1. Musselman Building. The build­ing has been razed; the site is awaiting clearance of contaminated soil and large areas of concrete; site is being considered for redevelopment.
2. Community Building. First floor supports currently being strengthened; roof support replacements and up­grading are next.
3. Downtown? Which one? The Musselman building removal (see #1, above) will focus on the city’s campus near City Hall, Library, Park District, Community Building and Police De­partment, but other commercial hubs exist in town.
4. Sub-area Planning by the city. The city’s Master Land-use Plan contains base assumptions for applying zoning standards on specific land plats throughout the city.
