May 28, 1935 – Oct. 14, 2009Clifford Eugene Collins

Clifford Eugene Collins, 74, of La Grange, CA, died Oct. 14 at an Oakdale, CA hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Collins resided in Warrenville for 25 years before moving to California in 1983. He worked for IBM, retiring in 1990 after 35 years with the company.

Mr. Collins coached Little League baseball and was active in sports, hunting, fishing, painting, singing and golf. He served on the board of directors of Lake Don Pedro Community Services District, held numerous positions with the Lake Don Pedro Men’s Golf Club, and was a tenor with the Gold Country Singers.

Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents, Reo Collins and Viola (Ingram) Florey, and two sisters, Linda Wellner and Dorothy Viewig.

He is survived by his wife Caroline (Holm) Collins, of La Grange, CA; three sons, Kevin Collins and his wife, Donna, of Yorkville, IL., Timothy Collins and his wife, Carrie, of Serena, IL., and Shayne Collins and his wife, Judy, of Morgan Hill, CA.; nine grandsons, Adam, Mathew, Mitchell and Luke Collins, of Illinois, Joshua and Jesse Collins, of Illinois, and David, Stephen, and Kevin Collins, of California; one great-grandson, Caleb Collins, of Illinois; two brothers, Jerry Collins and his wife, Donna, of Danville, IL., and Rick Collins, of Diamond, IL.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at Lake Don Pedro Baptist Church in California on Oct. 21, and a second memorial service will be held on Nov. 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Coal City, IL.
