City Receives Development Award

Warrenville Mayor David L. Brummel and The Chaddick Institute Director Dr. Joseph Schwieterman

At the July 19 Warrenville City Council meeting, the city received the Chaddick Institute’s Development Control Award 2010 for the Cantera Special Development District.

This award recognizes a suburban unit of government that is demonstrating excellence in sign control, design review, zoning, subdivision regulation, and the development approval process over a period of five years or more.

William Hoffmann

November 29, 1927 - July 10, 2010

William Hoffmann, a 58-year Warrenville resident, died at home on July 10, 2010.

Mr. Hoffman was the beloved husband of 58 years of Rose Ann nee Houdek, loving father of Sandra (Wayne) Vajgert, Nancy (William) Pearn, Michael (Lana) Hoffmann, Susan Hoffmann and Julie Hoffmann, beloved son of the late Catharine and the late John Hoffmann, proud grandfather of Sarah, William and Allison, dear brother of the late Mildred Gestel and the late Leo Hoffmann, and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Tiger Marching Band Car Wash

The Wheaton Warrenville South High School Tiger Marching Band will host a car wash from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Wheaton Warrenville South High School, located at the corner of Butterfield and Wiesbrook Rds. in Wheaton.

Members of the band will suds cars for donations to help fund their fall competitive marching season.

Come over and get your car shined while supporting the band. You can get a good deal and a clean car all summer long while the students earn their way for the band.

Police Report March 2010

POLICE REPORT MARCH 2010
Station Information
3/12/2010		Officer dispatched to a vehicle stuck in mud near Continental/Stevens. Officer observed vehicle in field. Registered owner of car was on scene and related needing to access shed with car and vehicle became stuck. Owner related any damage would be taken care of and association was in agreement.
3/26/2010		Resident of the 2s200 block of Rt. 59 reported ashes were dumped on property. Complainant has an ongoing problem w/neighbor and believes the ashes hinder water drainage complainant was required to install.
3/30/2010		Former resident of the 28w500 block of Rogers Ave. requested a stand by for retrieval of personal property. Subject became irate while at residence and was told to not return.
3/25/2010		Resident of the 2s600 block of Wildwood reported neighbor dug up flowers on complainant’s property and damaged siding. Both parties had differing plats of survey.
3/8/2010		Resident of the 29w400 block of Crabtree reported buying a vehicle through what complainant believed to be EBay. Complainant sent money but never received vehicle, then was asked to send more money through various emails sent from different areas of the country.

3/3/2010		Resident of the 30w000 block of Avondale Ct. reported a verbal argument with spouse.
3/3/2010		Resident of the 29w500 block of Winchester Circle reported roommate was fighting with known subject. R/O spoke with both parties who related argument was verbal only.
3/19/2010		Resident of the 3s200 block Patterman of reported a verbal argument with family member.
3/20/2010		Resident of the 3s100 block of Rt. 59 reported a verbal argument with family member.
3/20/2010		Resident of the 3s200 block of Blackthorn reported an altercation with known subject about house rules. Both parties and witness gave conflicting stories. Complainant agreed to leave for the night.
3/20/2010		Resident of the 30w200 block of Leominister Ct. reported a verbal disagreement with spouse. Both parties agreed to stay apart for the night.
3/21/2010		Resident of the 29w600 block of Ridge Dr. reported a verbal argument with spouse.
3/26/2010		Resident of the 28w300 block of Batavia Rd. reported an argument with spouse.

Suspicious Circumstances/Quasi Criminal
3/1/2010		Subject reported observing a male subject in restroom on the 2s600 block of Rt 59 using drugs. Subject denied using any drugs and no evidence was located.
3/2/2010		Reported observing a green vehicle with heavyset male white driver that appeared to be taking pictures of subjects walking home from school near Central/Lorraine. R/O was unable to locate vehicle.
3/3/2010		Reported receiving complaints from various workers that tools and items on job site on the 27700 block of Maecliff are missing/stolen. It seems that the items disappear during daytime hours. The job site is not secure and anyone can come and go without question.
3/8/2010		Employee of business on the 2s700 block of Rt. 59 reported former employee came to pick up belongings and threatened complainant. Former employee has made several calls to business. Subject was issued a “No Trespass Order” and advised to stop calling.
3/15/2010		Resident of the29w200 block of Renouf reported tenant of house at 3s300 block of Williams Rd. had vacated property and complainant wanted it declared abandoned. Complainant was informed the police are unable to do that. R/O later learned complainant had created an unofficial notice to deter former tenant from returning to residence and signed R/Os names. R/O informed complainant it was not advisable to create fraudulent documents.
3/27/2010		Resident of the29w400 block of Birchwood reported paying subject $150.00 to do work and the subject never returned. R/O contacted subject who related an agreement had been reached to pay a portion back and keep a portion for service call.
3/29/2010		Resident of the 30w000 block of Glenhurst reported attempting to contact estranged spouse and being threatened by known subject. Complainant appeared intoxicated and reported attempting to call numerous times. R/O attempted to contact estranged spouse and number had been disconnected. R/O advised complainant to stop calling.
3/27/2010		Employee of business located on the 28200 block of Diehl Rd. reported while walking to vehicle a reckless driver almost struck complainant. Subject retrieved plate information and requested the driver be spoken with. R/O located driver and explained the consequences of driving in a reckless manner.
3/10/2010		Employee of business located on the 2s500 block of Rt. 59 reported known subject is making unwanted calls to business and personal phone. Subject was advised to stop calling.
		Telephone Harassment
3/19/2010		Resident of the 3s200 block of Twin Pine reported receiving unwanted phone calls and text messages from known subject. Subject advised to stop calling.
3/26/2010		Employee of business located on the 4200 block of Cantera Dr reported two phone calls to place of business that were threatening and suspicious in nature towards the complainant.
Criminal Damage/Criminal Trespass
3/4/2010		Resident of the 3s500 block of Curtis reported vehicle, parked in an unsecured garage had been damaged.
3/8/2010		Employee of City of Warrenville reported unknown offender caused damaged in the women’s restroom at Forestview/River.
3/9/2010		Resident of the 3s100 block of Barkley reported unknown offender cut branches from trees in complainant’s yard.
3/10/2010		Reported unknown offender placed aluminum foil on satellite dish, on the store roof on the 28w000 block of Warrenville Rd., to cause interference with credit card machine. There was no monetary loss.
3/11/2010		Warrenville Officers observed graffiti on the 29w500 block of Country Ridge.
3/13/2010		Resident of the 27w600 block of Warrenville Rd. reported unknown offender broke flower pot in yard.
3/14/2010		Resident of the 30w100 block of Lindenwood reported vehicle windows had been broken.
3/15/2010		Resident of the 2s500 block of River Oaks reported unknown offender damaged mailbox.
3/15/2010		Resident of the 30w000 block of Greenbrook reported graffiti painted on fences. R/O photographed graffiti in several locations.
3/25/2010		Resident of the 3s300 block of Blackthorn reported unknown offender put some sort of sticky substance in gas tank.
Disorderly Conduct/Other Trouble
3/2/2010		Reported receiving letters and phone calls from subject recently released from prison, while working on the 27500 block of Diehl Rd. R/O contacted subject and informed subject to stop contacting complainant. Subject resides in another state and related complainant’s request for no further contact would be honored.
3/12/2010		Officer dispatched to the 3s100 block of Patterman for two subjects fighting in street. Officer spoke w/subject that related altercation occurred over a misunderstanding. Subject did not know who the other party was and did not want to sign complaints. The other party was no longer on the scene.
3/13/2010		Reported unwanted subjects on the 28200 block of Diehl Rd. Subjects were issued “No Trespassing Orders.”
3/15/2010		Resident of the30w000 block of Maplewood reported known subject was in residence and was not welcome. Complainant requested a “No Trespass Order” be issued to subject.
3/25/2010		Resident of the 2s700 block of Winchester reported known subject is posting inappropriate comments on social networking site. R/O spoke with subject and advised complainant wanted to work things out without filing charges.
3/25/2010		Resident of the 2s200 block of Continental reported subjects came to residence and had an altercation w/complainant and family member. Both parties had conflicting stories and neither party wanted to press charges.
3/25/2010		Resident of the 2s700 block of Winchester reported known subject is posting negative messages about complainant on Facebook and sending complainant unwanted text messages.
Fraud/Attempt Fraud
3/1/2010		Resident of the 3s100 block of Birchwood reported fraudulent activity on a recently opened bank account.
3/11/2010		Resident of the 3s200 block of Briarwood reported several fraudulent charges had been made to bank account. Complainant was in possession of bank card and fraud had occurred in another state.
3/15/2010		Resident of the 29w400 block of Emerald Green Dr. reported receiving a phone call from subject claiming to be family member and asking for money to be sent. Complainant contacted family and found out phone call was fraudulent. No money was sent.
3/18/2010		Resident of the 29w400 block of Tanglewood reported receiving phone call from subject claiming complainant was a contest winner but needed to provide credit card information. Complainant did not provide information.
3/26/2010		Resident of the 29w400 block of Birchwood reported former roommate had written unauthorized checks on complainant’s bank account.
Theft
3/9/2010		Resident of the 30w000 block of Penny Lane reported various items of jewelry were missing from residence.
3/9/2010		Employee of City of Warrenville reported money from a fund raiser stored in an envelope was missing from desk on the 28w700 block of Stafford Pl.
3/12/2010		Reported while on the 28100 block of DIehl Rd. cell phone was taken by unknown offender.
3/13/2010		Foreman for construction site on the 27500 block of Maecliff reported 8 boxes of plate covers missing from construction site.
3/14/2010		Reported while at the 28100 block of Diehl Rd. an unknown offender entered locked locker and stole money from wallet. Locker did not appear to have been tampered with.
3/16/2010		Resident of the 29w500 block of Country Ridge reported vehicle was stolen. Vehicle was later recovered in Aurora.
3/19/2010		Manager of business located on the 28200 block of Diehl Rd. reported 3 subjects did not pay for ordered items. R/O was able to obtain information on one of the subjects through a license plate number. Subject returned to business and paid for items.
3/20/2010		Reported unknown offender removed a GPS unit from storage room at on the 30w200 block of Rt. 56
Burglary/Attempt Burglary
3/5/2010		Owner of business located on the 27555 Diehl 2s600 block of Rt. 59 reported damage to back door of business. It appeared and unknown offender used an object to try to pry the door open.
3/5/2010		Residents of the 3s500 block of Virginia reported unknown offender entered home and took various items.
3/6/2010		Reported while on the 28100 block of Diehl Rd an unknown offender took money from locked locker.
3/7/2010		Reported unknown offender entered residence on the 30500 block of Village Green and took personal items belonging to complainant.
3/12/2010		Resident of the 29w300 block of Townline reported unknown offender took motor bike from garage and tools from shed.
3/15/2010		Resident of the 28w700 block of Forestview Dr. S reported dirt bike and go-cart were stolen from garage.
3/11/2010		Reported while cleaning carpet on the 32400 block of Village Green Blvd. complainant returned to vehicle for more hose and observed vehicle was on fire. The Warrenville Fire Department responded to scene and related nothing appeared suspicious.
3/22/2010		Reported attending meeting at local school regarding drawings which were sexual in nature located in a garbage can. Complainant had also heard rumors of possible inappropriate activity with children present and a child’s residence. Parent of child related educating children of inappropriate contact, which could have been the cause of the drawings. DCFS was contacted.
Child Abuse/Neglect
3/24/2010		Reported having concerns about relationship child, who resides in Warrenville, is having with an older relative. Child admitted relationship was sexual. Children’s Center and DCFS were notified.
Criminal Sexual Assault
3/25/2010		Reported JUVENILE family member was sexually assaulted at a residence in Warrenville. Children’s Center will be investigating the case.
