City Receives Development Award

At the July 19 Warrenville City Council meeting, the city received the Chaddick Institute’s Development Control Award 2010 for the Cantera Special Development District.

This award recognizes a suburban unit of government that is demonstrating excellence in sign control, design review, zoning, subdivision regulation, and the development approval process over a period of five years or more.

William Hoffmann

November 29, 1927 - July 10, 2010

William Hoffmann, a 58-year Warrenville resident, died at home on July 10, 2010.

Mr. Hoffman was the beloved husband of 58 years of Rose Ann nee Houdek, loving father of Sandra (Wayne) Vajgert, Nancy (William) Pearn, Michael (Lana) Hoffmann, Susan Hoffmann and Julie Hoffmann, beloved son of the late Catharine and the late John Hoffmann, proud grandfather of Sarah, William and Allison, dear brother of the late Mildred Gestel and the late Leo Hoffmann, and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Tiger Marching Band Car Wash

The Wheaton Warrenville South High School Tiger Marching Band will host a car wash from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Wheaton Warrenville South High School, located at the corner of Butterfield and Wiesbrook Rds. in Wheaton.

Members of the band will suds cars for donations to help fund their fall competitive marching season.

Come over and get your car shined while supporting the band. You can get a good deal and a clean car all summer long while the students earn their way for the band.

Station Information

3/12/2010

 

Officer dispatched to a vehicle stuck in mud near Continental/Stevens. Officer observed vehicle in field. Registered owner of car was on scene and related needing to access shed with car and vehicle became stuck. Owner related any damage would be taken care of and association was in agreement.

3/26/2010

 

Resident of the 2s200 block of Rt. 59 reported ashes were dumped on property. Complainant has an ongoing problem w/neighbor and believes the ashes hinder water drainage complainant was required to install.

Former resident of the 28w500 block of Rogers Ave. requested a stand by for retrieval of personal property. Subject became irate while at residence and was told to not return.

Resident of the 2s600 block of Wildwood reported neighbor dug up flowers on complainant’s property and damaged siding. Both parties had differing plats of survey.

Resident of the 29w400 block of Crabtree reported buying a vehicle through what complainant believed to be EBay. Complainant sent money but never received vehicle, then was asked to send more money through various emails sent from different areas of the country.

Suspicious Circumstances/Quasi Criminal

3/1/2010

 

Subject reported observing a male subject in restroom on the 2s600 block of Rt 59 using drugs. Subject denied using any drugs and no evidence was located.

3/2/2010

 

Reported observing a green vehicle with heavyset male white driver that appeared to be taking pictures of subjects walking home from school near Central/Lorraine. R/O was unable to locate vehicle.

Reported receiving complaints from various workers that tools and items on job site on the 27700 block of Maecliff are missing/stolen. It seems that the items disappear during daytime hours. The job site is not secure and anyone can come and go without question.

Employee of business on the 2s700 block of Rt. 59 reported former employee came to pick up belongings and threatened complainant. Former employee has made several calls to business. Subject was issued a “No Trespass Order” and advised to stop calling.

Resident of the29w200 block of Renouf reported tenant of house at 3s300 block of Williams Rd. had vacated property and complainant wanted it declared abandoned. Complainant was informed the police are unable to do that. R/O later learned complainant had created an unofficial notice to deter former tenant from returning to residence and signed R/Os names. R/O informed complainant it was not advisable to create fraudulent documents.

Resident of the29w400 block of Birchwood reported paying subject $150.00 to do work and the subject never returned. R/O contacted subject who related an agreement had been reached to pay a portion back and keep a portion for service call.

Resident of the 30w000 block of Glenhurst reported attempting to contact estranged spouse and being threatened by known subject. Complainant appeared intoxicated and reported attempting to call numerous times. R/O attempted to contact estranged spouse and number had been disconnected. R/O advised complainant to stop calling.

Employee of business located on the 28200 block of Diehl Rd. reported while walking to vehicle a reckless driver almost struck complainant. Subject retrieved plate information and requested the driver be spoken with. R/O located driver and explained the consequences of driving in a reckless manner.

Employee of business located on the 4200 block of Cantera Dr reported two phone calls to place of business that were threatening and suspicious in nature towards the complainant.

Reported unknown offender placed aluminum foil on satellite dish, on the store roof on the 28w000 block of Warrenville Rd., to cause interference with credit card machine. There was no monetary loss.

Reported receiving letters and phone calls from subject recently released from prison, while working on the 27500 block of Diehl Rd. R/O contacted subject and informed subject to stop contacting complainant. Subject resides in another state and related complainant’s request for no further contact would be honored.

Officer dispatched to the 3s100 block of Patterman for two subjects fighting in street. Officer spoke w/subject that related altercation occurred over a misunderstanding. Subject did not know who the other party was and did not want to sign complaints. The other party was no longer on the scene.

Resident of the 3s200 block of Briarwood reported several fraudulent charges had been made to bank account. Complainant was in possession of bank card and fraud had occurred in another state.

Resident of the 29w400 block of Emerald Green Dr. reported receiving a phone call from subject claiming to be family member and asking for money to be sent. Complainant contacted family and found out phone call was fraudulent. No money was sent.

Reported while cleaning carpet on the 32400 block of Village Green Blvd. complainant returned to vehicle for more hose and observed vehicle was on fire. The Warrenville Fire Department responded to scene and related nothing appeared suspicious.

Reported attending meeting at local school regarding drawings which were sexual in nature located in a garbage can. Complainant had also heard rumors of possible inappropriate activity with children present and a child’s residence. Parent of child related educating children of inappropriate contact, which could have been the cause of the drawings. DCFS was contacted.

Reported having concerns about relationship child, who resides in Warrenville, is having with an older relative. Child admitted relationship was sexual. Children’s Center and DCFS were notified.

Criminal Sexual Assault

3/25/2010

 

Reported JUVENILE family member was sexually assaulted at a residence in Warrenville. Children’s Center will be investigating the case.
