It was with great frustration that I read Crystal Lynn’s article entitled Fawell Dam Concerns Unanswered in the July 9, 2010 edition of the Village Chronicles, given that it was clearly written without any research of existing documents or personal interviews of City staff members and officials directly involved with this issue.

At the July 13 DuPage County Forest Preserve Board meeting, I was thrilled that the board was encouraged to adopt Responsible Bidder Language by candidates for the Forest Preserve Board Dennis Clark and Shannon Burns.

During the public comment section of the meeting they encouraged the board to adopt responsible bidder provisions, stating that it would help the board ensure quality while potentially reducing costly change orders that result in long project completion delays.

Irksome Bumper Sticker is Offensive

Written by Rocky Falco

If I see another bumper sticker that reads “Real Men Love Jesus,” I think I’m going to gag.

Let’s understand something: a real man loves everyone.

A real man has compassion for his fellow man. A real man respects every man, woman and child, be they black or white, young or old, gay or straight, Christian or non-Christian, Italian, German, Polish, Arab, Greek, or whatever nationality they may be.

Johnson School Project Still Needs Our Help

Written by Cathy Kimber

For several weeks, volunteers and the America in Bloom group have been donating and planting plants and flowers, and weeding and improving the “island” at the Johnson School as part of the America in Bloom Project.

I would like to put a huge thank you out to Trinity Lutheran Church and Wende West. I was amazed with such a beautiful service that Wende had done for my son’s funeral.

I would like to thank Emily Larson for her comfort during this time for me. I would like to thank everyone that was involved at the church with any services they provided and their prayers. Warrenville Bible Chapel and Bill Hertz, thank you for all that you have done and your prayers.

Anti-Gay Bias and Inaccuracies Alleged

Written by Carolyn McNellis

Take a deep breath George! The Catholic religion does not define “Homosexuality as Profoundly Immoral”. There is no anti-homosexual “doctrine” as you referenced. Your example of “stunts” as in the HIV dentist was inaccurately adjusted to fit your extreme anti-gay position.

To Editor

Written by Jennifer McMahon

I had the pleasure of reading [George Safford’s] latest column, We Must Examine Limits to Public Salaries and Benefits, and was concerned by the generalizations in the first four paragraphs regarding “public employees.”

Emerald Green Residents Pitch In

Written by Donna Hathaway
I would like to add to Dorothy Deer’s article about all the volunteers working to keep Warrenville beautiful.

The residents of Emerald Green have been working ever since the Army Corps of Engineers went through their property to enhance the riverside beauty.

Pierotti’s Behavior is Inappropriate

Written by Dr. Shannon M Burns

At the Tuesday, May 18 meeting of the DuPage County Forest Preserve Board, President Pierotti interrupted speakers during the public comment section of the meeting. Again.

Interrupting people during public comment at board meetings is a habit of Pierotti’s. He often has something to say and rarely waits until the speaker has finished to say it.
