Warrenville Joins Cool City Program

On Jan. 17, Mayor David Brummel signed the US Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement thereby officially joining Warrenville to the Sierra Club’s Cool Cities Program, an initiative led by volunteers around the country, striving for collaboration among “community members, organizations, businesses, and local leaders to implement clean energy solutions that save money, create jobs, and help curb global warming.

Durham School Services, a leader in student transportation with corporate offices at 4300 Weaver Pkwy. in Warrenville, was presented with a Maggiano’s Hero Award from Special Olympics Illinois at the organization’s annual appreciation dinner Nov. 30 at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Schaumburg.

District 94 officials and the West Chicago High School Teachers’ Association recently announced that a tentative agreement on contract negotiations was reached Jan. 22.

Cantigny Park Announces Top Three Photo Contest Winners

Cantigny Park visitors voted and the results are in! The grand prize winners of the 2010 Cantigny in Focus amateur photo contest are: First Place: Mary Lemak, Batavia, for her summery image of the new fountain garden located east of the Cantigny Park Visitors Center. Second Place: Chris Edwards, Sugar Grove, for his artful capture of the Lion of Cantigny statue on a rainy morning in late May. Third Place: Fran Lawless, Batavia, for her touching photo of Army veteran and Chaplain George Knapp, now deceased, taken at the 65th anniversary of D-Day ceremony on June 6, 2009.

Conservation Foundation Awards Dinner Feb. 8

ESDA Training

Once again this year Warrenville ESDA will be providing Citizen Emergency Response Training for all Warrenville citizens 18 and over.

 

Class is currently scheduled to begin Thursday Feb. 9 at 7:00 p.m. and runs every Thursday for 10 weeks. The class is free to all Warrenville residents.

On Jan. 11, the West Chicago High School Teachers’ Association filed a Notice of Impasse with the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board (IELRB).
